Up until now my literary bent has been confined to returning texts and emails I get occasionally from people I know and occasionally i find myself opining on facebook about something, usually a political issue that has spiked my blood pressure.
Then a few weeks back my youngest daughter Erin gave her mom a dad each a formatted diary so we could recount our lives from the time of our birth until the present. I didn’t scoff at the idea. As a matter of fact it got me to thinks about my early childhood and some of the incidents I managed to survive between the ages of eight and ten, a couple of which were actually newsworthy enough for the stories to end up in print for the local newspapers. I thought that I would take the lazy way to research them by querying AI to see if there were any items still in the archives of said newspapers, but being close to seventy years ago AI told me that if anything was still in the dust bin of history I was going to have to do it the hard way. And since Carolyn and I are headed to Tucson next month to visit my family there and where the incidents occurred I will go visit the newspapers and see what I can dig up if they are still in business.
After reading the part in your latest report from Aix and your detailed descriptions of some of the various Louvre worthy artists of historical significance I’d say you’ve been delving into art history a bit more than the average reader. I guess their indefatigable focus and energy they poured into their creations is a great source of inspiration to push your own creativity to greater heights and also brings me back to my early years of watching historical insights on PBS with my folks and listening to classical music until my older brother began collecting a bunch of rock and roll from the 50’s and my oldest sister collecting jazz that was contemporary at the time like the Dave Brubeck Quartet and the lusty voice of Julie London. That’s the sort of stuff that will make into my journal because those are when my conscious life began after losing a contest of kid on bike vs. lumber truck.
